Questions

Do I need to send my original passport to the IRS?

No. As an IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent we authenticate your passport ourselves, so the original is not sent to the IRS. This applies to primary applicants and spouses.

What documents do I need?

A valid passport, and evidence of why you need an ITIN. Examples: a US tax return, US company or LLC documents, FIRPTA documents for a US property sale, or Form 8233. You upload everything online.

How long does it take?

Your application is couriered to the IRS within 3 working days of payment. ITINs are typically issued 12 to 16 weeks from that date. Every stage can be followed online.

Can I renew an expired ITIN?

Yes. Renewals use the same Form W-7 and the same online application. Choose "Renew an existing ITIN" on the first step.

Do I need to come to the office?

No. The application, identity check and payment are completed online. Meetings in Oslo are available by appointment.
